The shipyard was founded in 1990 by Jan Vitters with a focus on constructing mega yacht hulls. Collaboration with Louis Hamming soon followed, leading to the foray into sailing yacht construction. The first yacht, Aphrodite I, was delivered in 1993.
In 2010, Vitters experienced growth with the acquisition of Green Marine, based in Lymington, UK, renowned for their expertise in advanced composite projects.
Expanding further in 2016, Vitters entered into a partnership with Dutch shipyard Claasen Shipyards situated in Zaandam. This collaboration aims to maintain individual identities while fostering a joint management approach.
