Interiors revealed | First look onboard 61m Royal Hakvoort ASIA
The interior design of the 61-meter Royal Hakvoort superyacht ASIA has been a closely guarded secret, until now. ASIA was delivered in May 2024 and immediately embarked on a four-month Mediterranean tour. After a successful season cruising non-stop, Royal Hakvoort is delighted to now be able to present her playfully creative interiors, designed by Sinot Yacht Architecture & Design.
Few yachts are infused with as much personality as the latest Royal Hakvoort delivery. The 61-meter superyacht ASIA was commissioned by an experienced family who want to travel the world for extended periods. ASIA is not a yacht for them; it’s a home on the water.
“ASIA is the boat I have dreamt of since I was a young boy,” says the owner. “Everywhere onboard ASIA is incredibly comfortable and enjoyable to spend time in. There isn't any part of the boat where we don’t feel at home; in fact, what Royal Hakvoort built is a home for us. ASIA is the complete package—she turned out precisely as we envisioned.”
Being intended for a life of great use, ASIA was designed by Sinot Yacht Architecture & Design in strict accordance with the owners' active lifestyles. They are social, generous people who enjoy sharing ASIA with friends. Every space has been carefully considered to be equally suited for when large parties of guests are onboard as they are for when the owners are enjoying intimate time with family. This was no easy feat.
“From the outset, the owners’ intention was clear: to spend as much time onboard as possible,” explains Paul Costerus, Lead Designer at Sinot Yacht Architecture & Design. “The phrase ‘home away from home’ couldn’t be more fitting. Being limited to 61 meters, yet briefed to create the sensation of an 80-meter+ yacht, we were meticulous at the granular level. There isn’t a single inch that hasn’t been completely optimized.”
ASIA is the third 61-meter custom superyacht built by Royal Hakvoort to a design by Sinot Yacht Architecture & Design, with naval architecture by Diana Yacht Design. Notably, it was also the eighth Royal Hakvoort yacht sold by Moran Yacht & Ship, who was not only instrumental in the sale of ASIA but also instrumental throughout construction.
“Working with Royal Hakvoort to build this yacht was a great experience,” says the owner. “The recommendation came through Robert and Sean Moran of Moran Yacht & Ship, our trusted advisors for more than 30 years. We wanted to build our yacht in northern Europe, and after our first meeting, we found in Royal Hakvoort the perfect combination of quality and chemistry. It was immediately clear this was the shipyard for us. Royal Hakvoort has truly delivered the perfect yacht for us. We would like to thank everyone involved, especially Moran Yacht & Ship, who guided our dream to reality.”
“We are truly indebted to Moran Yacht & Ship,” adds Klass Hakvoort, Managing Director at Royal Hakvoort Shipyard. “Our relationship, forged over many decades, is strengthened by every new delivery. This is now the eighth custom new-build order they’ve brought to our shipyard, and each time we’ve demonstrated our ability to not only meet but exceed our client’s expectations – ASIA is no exception.”
Onboard ASIA
With a classic bow and sculptural lines that flow from aft to forward, ASIA has a sleek elegance that disguises her 1,268 GT of interior volume. She features wide gangways on both the main and owner’s deck which improve flow and streamline her appearance. Each deck has been finished with a subtle tri-color of white, grey, and black.
“The first thing you notice with ASIA is space; stepping aboard feels akin to being on an 80-meter superyacht,” says Hakvoort. “The secret lies in the general arrangement. ASIA has her engine rooms located amidships, which has freed up a huge amount of living space for the owner and guests aft. The design and detailing are exceptional throughout; ASIA is intricate, welcoming, and well-suited for long periods at sea.”
The lower deck is dedicated to guests, health, and rejuvenation. The recessed beach club is a waterside oasis, finished in neutral tones and natural materials. It’s home to a spa, sauna, and massage parlor. There is also a lounge and juice station with commanding seascape views. With hatches, port, starboard, and aft the beach club can be opened on three sides giving the space plenty of natural light and a gentle flowing breeze when the yacht is anchored.
The beach club is also multipurpose. While it acts as the central health clinic during the day, in the evening, when the vivid underwater lights are switched on, the space transforms into the perfect setting for karaoke nights and intimate gatherings with friends and family.
Four large double-ensuite guest staterooms are connected to the beach club. Guests have direct access to the sea and the wellness facilities onboard. Each stateroom boasts huge windows and outstanding vistas, either port or starboard. The rooms are spacious, with plenty of room to walk around the centerline kingsize beds. Each stateroom features rainfall showers and unique design elements, ensuring individual character while maintaining overall harmony.
Forward on the lower deck is dedicated to the crew. There are eight cabins, a mess area, and ample space for her 18 crew members to relax and unwind during their downtime. The crew have easy passage throughout the yacht and can access their quarters via a dedicated staircase. Guests have a large atrium with a central stairwell that has a huge cascading glass feature and a separate elevator.
An additional VIP suite and a large staff stateroom are located on the main deck. Located forward, the suite features a bedroom portside and a private saloon starboard. There is also a delicately finished ensuite with natural wood and crystal-white marble, home to a rainfall shower and a bathtub. The VIP suite is comparable in size and finish to the owner’s apartment.
Aft of the main deck is a large saloon surrounded by wall-to-ceiling windows for unrivaled panoramic views. The saloon combines dark woods, glass accents, and cream furnishings, accented with vibrant cushions and rugs. There is a 12-person dining table that runs perpendicular, a low seating aft for a cozy lounge setting, and a large bar portside. Glass sliding doors seamlessly connect the outdoor seating area.
The owners have a dedicated deck with private outdoor areas forward and aft. There is a large al fresco dining area aft, with seating for up to 12 guests, while the foredeck is much more intimate. It’s directly connected with the owners’ apartment and is home to a Jacuzzi and a small seating area – ideal for early morning coffee or sunset cocktails.
The owners' apartment itself has a suspended kingsize bed that looks directly out upon 270 degrees of glassing, offering the most outstanding panoramic views from the moment the owners wake up. The ceiling is gorgeously detailed with gold leaf and the apartment is finished in rich mahogany and cream furnishings. There is also a beauty salon, his and her bathrooms, an office and a sky lounge on this deck.
There is an additional outdoor social area on the bridge deck aft with twin elliptical settees and plenty of space to cool off after training and exercising in the gym. Glass sliding doors separate the al fresco lounge from the gym, which has machines and free weights all from TechnoGym. Forward of the bridge deck is the wheelhouse.
The final deck is the sun deck, the ultimate al fresco social area. It is full-length with a huge amount of open space flanked by a grill station and a wet bar. There are retractable biminis that offer shade throughout the day. But the biggest highlight is the glass-walled Jacuzzi forward, which is nestled between sun pads and a swim-up bar.
Equipped with a hybrid propulsion system that includes shaft generators and a battery for peak shaving, ASIA stands out as one of the most efficient Hakvoorts to date. She has a range of 4,800 nautical miles at a cruising speed of 10 knots and can reach speeds exceeding 15 knots. An innovative heat recovery system—now a standard feature on all future Royal Hakvoort superyachts—further underscores her forward-thinking design.
ASIA has been thoroughly enjoyed since her delivery in May 2024 and will continue her world tour.
