Steeler Yachts Acquires Holterman Shipyard
Steeler Yachts, a renowned Dutch yacht builder based in Steenwijk, has officially assumed control of the operations of Holterman Shipyard following its bankruptcy declared last week.
Holterman Shipyard was founded in 1964 by Johannes Holterman, and later his son Robbert Holterman became the owner. Under his leadership, the yard expanded its offerings to include yachts with a length of up to 33 meters. Sadly, after nearly three decades of operations, the Shipyard was declared bankrupt following significant financial challenges.
This acquisition offers Steeler Yachts the essential production capacity expansion possibility that is necessary to keep up with the increasing demand. Specifically, with 16 new motor yachts currently under construction, the strategic location of Holterman Shipyard just 10 minutes away from Steeler's existing facilities presents significant opportunities for Steeler Yachts to further expand within the high-end segment of aluminum- and steel-built motor yachts.
Steeler Yachts intends to restart production immediately while pursuing the employment of former Holterman staff. Hence, for the Holterman team, this acquisition provides them a chance to continue their work and realize their passion for the yachting industry with restored job security.
Over the past decade, Steeler Yachts and Holterman Shipyard were powerful international competitors. Namely, both companies are known for offering fully custom superyacht experiences to clients in the range of approximately 15 to 30 meters. Moreover, Steeler Yachts is confident that the shared expertise between the two teams will lead to an even higher level of excellence and expertise in delivering bespoke yachting experiences.
