Vitters Shipyard is on the right course
After over two years of construction, 59-meter classic sailing yacht MAXIMUS leaves the production hall of Vitters Shipyard in Zwartsluis this week. It's a moment of pride for everyone who contributed to building this unique yacht with great craftsmanship, creativity, and dedication. Due to its draft being too deep for Zwartewater and the IJsselmeer, this yacht will be transported on a pontoon to Harlingen. There, the yacht will be launched, and its two masts, 65 and 47 meters high, will be placed on board. After commissioning and some test voyages, the sailing yacht will be officially handed over to the owner in a few weeks.
This classic yacht, designed by German Frers from Argentina, is a wolf in sheepskin clothing. Above water, it looks classic, but the sail plan and hull have been optimized to compete in various regattas in the coming years.
The large hall at Vitters won't remain empty for long. The next project, called 'Zero,' is already waiting outside to be brought in for the outfitting phase. 'Zero' is the largest project ever built at the Zwartsluis shipyard. What's most notable about this project is its onboard energy management. Project Zero won't have combustion engines and will sail completely emission-free. This innovative yacht is set to leave the shipyard around mid-2025.
Vitters Shipyard is certainly on the right course, as evidenced by a new order received this summer for the construction of a 68-meter yacht. The construction of the aluminum hull, designed by Hoek Design from Edam, is set to begin in the spring of 2024, with the final delivery planned for the summer of 2026.
