The August Dutch yacht sales report

NEW FOR SALE | August 2024

In August 2024, the Dutch yacht sales market saw the introduction of 9 new yachts for sale, 8 motor yachts and 1 sailing yacht. 

The highest priced and largest Dutch-built yacht amongst the new listings is the 55m motor yacht AMIGOS built by Amels and asking €34.500.000.

On the other end of the spectrum, the 18.5m Pacific Shipyards motor yacht STRESS was one of the shortest and least expensive new listings with an first asking price of €599.000. The yacht received an 8.4% price reduction just 25 days after entering the market, reducing her asking price to €549.000.

The only sailing yacht listed for sale this month is the 22.5m OCEAN WOLF built by Jongert Yachts and asking €535.000.

The shipyards with the most new listings this month were Feadship and Pacific Shipyards with 2 of their yachts newly listed for sale. 

From the 9 Dutch-built yachts that came to the market in August, yachts had a length between 18 and 24 meters, yacht between 24 and 30 meters, andyachts between 50 and 70 meters.

When we compare this month to last month’s numbers, we see a decrease of 43.8% in the number of new listings. Compared to August last year, there was a decrease of 35.7% in yachts entering the market.

SOLD | August 2024

In August 2024, a total of 7 Dutch-built yachts were sold, 5 motor yachts and sailing yachts. Compared to July the amount of sales saw a decrease of 12.5%.

The largest yacht sold this month was the 24.9m Mulder Shipyard motor yacht LADY TESS. She was sold in an off-market deal with an unknown asking price. The most expensive yacht sold was the 23.2m Van der Valk Shipyard motor yacht ALISA, after 805 days on the market. During that period she had received price reduction and her final asking price was 87.5% of its original asking price of €1.600.000.

One of the shortest and least expensive yachts sold in August 2024 was the 18.5m motor yacht SEA LING built by Van den Hoven. She was sold after 679 days on the market with a last asking price of €598.500, which was 86% of its original asking price.

The yacht that was offered for sale the longest in August was the 20m Jongert Yachts sailing yacht BALTIC DREAM. She entered the market in December 2016 with an initial asking price of €2.350.000. She was sold after 2819 days, almost 8 years, on the market. During her time for sale she received 10 price changes and her final asking price was just 24% of her first asking price. 

On average, the yachts sold in August 2024 were on the market for 1128 days and still had a value of 75% of their first asking price. Compared to August 2023, we can see an increase of 16.7% in yachts being sold.

PRICE CHANGES | August 2024

Last month 19 Dutch-built yacht listings received a price reduction, 14 motor yacht and 5 sailing yachts. Compared to July we see a slight increase of 5.6% in price changes. Looking back at last year, there was a significant increase of 375% in price changes in August 2024.

The highest priced and one of the largest yachts that received a price reduction this month was the 57.6m Feadship W. The motor yacht is currently asking €44.950.000, after receiving a €5.000.000, 10%, price reduction this month. This is her first price reduction since she entered the market in April 2024.

The largest price reduction this month of 31.8% has been for the 40m Porsius motor yacht AGARTHA. She is on the market since May 2023, starting with an asking price of €1.150.000. After 473 days on the market, AGARTHA had received price reductions of in total 41.3% and is now asking €675.000.

The largest sailing yacht receiving a price reduction this month was the 40.68m SURAMA, built by Royal Huisman. This sailing yacht is currently asking €6.900.000, after receiving a 12.7% price reduction earlier this month. SURAMA has been for sale for 1695 days, since January 2020.

On average, the yachts had a price change of 14.5% this month and received their first price reduction after 343 days on the market. One of the yachts with the quickest price reduction was the 44.2m AT LAST, built by Heesen. AT LAST received her first 4.4% price reduction just 30 days after returning to the market in July 2024 and received her second 15.1% price reduction earlier this month after just 55 days on the market.

CURRENTLY FOR SALE | September 2024

On the first of September, the Dutch-built yacht market boasts 338 vessels for sale, of which 258 motor yachts and 84 sailing yachts.

Out of 1194 Dutch-built motor yachts over 18m in our database, 21.6% are currently offered for sale, and out of 418 sailing yachts, 20.1% are currently available for purchase.

Currently one of the largest sailing yachts available for purchase is the 47.67m Royal Huisman BORKUMRIFF IV. Her asking price is €9.950.000 and she has been listed for sale since January 2020 with an initial asking price of €17.500.000.

One of the largestmotor yachts available on the market is the new-built 105m Oceanco H3. This vessel has been listed for sale for 64 days with an asking price of €295.000.000.

At the other end of the spectrum, one of the smallest available yachts is the 18.55m motor yacht GRAND CRU, built by Verhoeven Jachtbouw. GRAND CRU is currently being offered for sale with an asking price of €495.000, and has been listed for sale since May 2023.

This month in numbers

Compared to the previous month, we can see a decrease in numbers of yachts entering the market, as well as a slight decrease in yachts sold. The amount of price changes on the other hand saw a slight increase. With the Summer season ending, we can see a stabilization of the sales market, with the sales activity likely picking up again over the next months.
