The October Dutch yacht sales report

NEW FOR SALE | October 2024

In October 2024, the Dutch yacht sales market saw the introduction of 11 new yachts for sale, 8 motor yachts and 3 sailing yachts. 

The highest priced and largest Dutch-built yacht amongst the new listings is the 44m motor yacht G3 built by Heesen and asking €14.750.000.

On the other end of the spectrum, the 18.4m Super van Craft motor yacht CHRISMARPA was the shortest new listing with an asking price of €545.000. The least expensive yacht entering the market was the 19.5m Super van Craft motor yacht WINDFALL with a first asking price of €465.000.

The largest sailing yacht listed for sale this month is the 38.5m DIONE STAR built by Scheepsreparatie Friesland (SRF) and asking €4.850.000.

The shipyards with the most new listings this month were Feadship, Super van Craftand Jongert Yachts with 2 of their yachts newly listed for sale. 

From the 11 Dutch-built yachts that came to the market in October, yachts had a length between 18 and 24 meters, yachts between 24 and 30 meters, 1 yacht between 30 and 40 meters, andyacht between 40 and 50 meters.

When we compare this month to last month’s numbers, we see a significant decrease of56% in the number of new listings. Compared to October last year, there was a decrease of 35.3% in yachts entering the market.

SOLD | October 2024

In October 2024, a total of 10 Dutch-built yachts were sold, 9 motor yachts and sailing yacht. Compared to September the amount of sales stayed the same.

The largest and most expensive yacht sold this month was the 55m Amels motor yacht DRIFTWOOD, after 237 days on the market with no price changes.

One of the shortest and least expensive yachts sold in October 2024 was the 19m motor yacht THOMMY built by VDL Shipyard Waalwijk. She was sold after 808 days on the market with a last asking price of €395.000, which was 87.8% of its original asking price.

The only sailing yacht sold last month was the 20m LYRICS built by Mekon Yachtbuilding. She was sold after 329 days on the market with an asking price of €475.000, which stayed the same throughout her whole sales period.

The yacht that was offered for sale the longest in October was the 36m Heesen motor yacht ALCOR. She entered the market in May 2021 with an initial asking price of €4.900.000. She was sold after 1239 days, just over 3 years, on the market. During her time for sale she received price change and her final asking price was 79.6% of her first asking price.

On average, the yachts sold in October 2024 were on the market for 492 days and still had a value of 92.5% of their first asking price. Compared to October 2023, we can see an increase of 100% in yachts being sold.

PRICE CHANGES | October 2024

Last month 22 Dutch-built yacht listings received a price reduction, 15 motor yachts and 7 sailing yachts. Compared to September we see a slight decrease of 8.3% in price changes. Looking back at last year, the amount of price changes stayed the same in October 2024.

One of the highest priced and largest yachts that received a price reduction this month was the 52m Amels NITA K II. The motor yacht is currently asking $22.500.000, after receiving a $1.400.000, 5.9%, price reduction this month. This is her first price reduction since she entered the market in September 2017.

The largest price reduction this month of 16.8% has been for the 30.9m Nordia sailing yacht GOOD TIMES. She is on the market since January 2020, starting with an asking price of €2.975.000.

The largest sailing yacht receiving a price reduction this month was the 40m LETHANTIA, built by Royal Huisman. This sailing yacht is currently asking €7.250.000, after receiving a 12.1% price reduction earlier this month. LETHANTIA has been for sale for 272 days, since February 2024.

On average, the yachts had a price change of -10.2% this month and received their first price reduction after 424 days on the market. The 18m sailing yacht DANUBIO II, built by Jongert Yachts, has received a total of 10 price reductions since entering the market in July 2020. She received her first 3.6% price reduction just 7 days after that, and after receiving a 32.7% price increase in May 2023, her current asking price is still 64.3%  of her first asking price. 

CURRENTLY FOR SALE | November 2024

On the first of November, the Dutch-built yacht market boasts 354 vessels for sale, of which 261 motor yachts and 93 sailing yachts.

Out of 1205 Dutch-built motor yachts over 18m in our database, 21.7% are currently offered for sale, and out of 418 sailing yachts, 22.2% are currently available for purchase.

Currently one of the largest sailing yachts available for purchase is the 52.5m Vitters Shipyard ANNE. Her asking price is €23.000.000 and she has been listed for sale since September 2024.

One of the largest motor yachts available on the market is the 105m Oceanco H3. This vessel has been listed for sale for 126 days with an asking price of €295.000.000.

At the other end of the spectrum, one of the smallest available yachts is the 18.32m motor yacht SAUDADE, built by Van Toledo Holland. SAUDADE is currently being offered for sale with an asking price of €695.000, and has been listed for sale since July 2024.

This month in numbers

Compared to the previous month, we can see an overall decrease in sales activity. Especially the number of yachts entering the market has seen a significant decrease, and the number of price changes has been decreasing as well. Only the number of sales have seem to stabilized.
